Abstract:
Areas of Drilling concern for Idaho
Bunker Hill Superfund site, located in the northern Idaho panhandle, 40 miles east of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, covers approximately 21 square miles.
West Boise Area of Drilling concern extends for approximately 2 1/2 miles in a northwesterly direction from Boise Towne Square Mall to Five Mile Road (north of Fairview Avenue)
Purpose:
The area of drilling concern designation is designed to protect public health and to prevent waste or contamination of ground or surface water because of factors such as aquifer pressure, vertical depth of the aquifer, warm or hot groundwater, or contaminated ground or surface waters. Aquifers areas designated as an area of drilling concern have additional well construction requirements that must be followed. The statute applies to both new wells being drilled and to the deepening or modification of an existing well.
