A February 10, 1949 design drawing for the "1950 Wing" of St. Lukes hospital shows the well, and indicates that it was equipped at that time with a 10-hp pump rated to produce 140 gpm at 80 feet of head. A letter from Ben Strawn indicates that the well was in use for domestic supply when he began working at the hospital in 1959. The well was re-equipped with a 7.5-hp pump and well screen in 1964, and has been used for emergency purposes since that time. Attachment A contains information related tot he well.
